About Teagan
Teagan Jai is a 10 year old from Austin, Texas. "Teagan" is Celtic for "beautiful" and "Jai" is Thai
for "heart". She truly has a beautiful heart. Tea has a passion for
acting, art, and giving back to the community.
Teagan attended a camp at Zach Scott Theatre and this began her love for
the stage. She continued participating in camps as well as group and
private acting lessons. She received the opportunity to be involved with
a film for the Kids Count program
and her passion for being in front of
the camera grew. During the filming when Teagan was asked what she
wanted to be when she grew up her answer was "an artist." When she was
asked why, she answered "to make people happy and make the world
beautiful." Teagan will spend hours drawing pictures and creating
stories with her art. In first grade her tree artwork earned her 2nd
place in the entire elementary school and 1st place amongst the first
graders.
Teagan is also a philanthropist. In kindergarten her school had a food
and coat drive. At that time she realized some children do not have the things other kids do,
and she decided she wanted to do something to help. So, for her sixth
birthday she asked for donations in lieu of gifts. She chose SuperHero Kids
to support because she liked the thought of being a SuperHero. She raised
over $1,000! She then recruited two local philantropists to match her
donations and the following year she raised over $4,000. The fund raising for SuperHero Kids
has continued, and to date Teagan has raised over $17,000!
At age 6 her explanation for giving was simple... so the kids in the
hospital "won't be sad when they have to get shots and stuff, and if
they aren't sad then their paraents won't worry!"
Teagan loves animals! She loves introducing people to her 2 dogs
Baxter and Tinkerbell aka Stinkerbell. Her cat, Katmandu, is
affectionaltely known as Fatmandu. TJ's hermit crab, Diggy, is waiting to be joined by a new
friend.
The most incredible thing about Teagan is her dynamic personality. She
will strike up a conversation with people of all ages.
She truly lives by the
saying "there are no strangers, only friends she hasn't met yet!"
